Ghost Story Telling with Nerupa and Isabel!
So as you may know, during Dare Nite: Lockdown there will be ghost stories performed by The Torontonians and an especially eerie true story about the Gladstone Hotel itself. While me and Isabel were rehearsing our stories in the office, a Gladstone rep popped in and told us that a group of kids just stopped by to take shelter in the ballroom from the thundering rain outside. She invited us to go downstairs and give them more information about our event as they were awing our poster while entering the building.
Annie gave us the idea to test out our story telling skills to the kids and give them a demo of Dare Nite: Lockdown. Down in the ballroom we shut all the curtains tightly and turned off all the lights. However, we did keep a flashlight below our chins to creep the kids out as we told our stories. The ambience of the whole room was almost chilling. You could faintly hear the rain hit the windows in the background, plus the air conditioning just happened to vamp up the atmosphere even more.
I personally thought me and Isabel did a fantastic job at scaring the children! Most of them tucked their knees below their chins and listened intently with wide eyes. After we were done, a couple of children from the group shared their stories, and even their councillor told a true story she experienced herself. It was a great feeling to hear others share their stories, and even be a little scared myself.

news! Here's the latest from Team A (otherwise known as the best team ever!!!
From our last meeting we’ve discussed a portion of DARE NITE
LOCKDOWN in the event's very own space (The Ballroom), which is the Pizza Dinner! We talked about introductions and how to
grab our audience and SERIOUSLY scare them. It was a slightly heated
conversation just throwing ideas to and fro. I realized how tough it is to
actually get things done! You need some serious focus and little distractions.
It must be some sort of superpower…In the end, what we were thinking of for the
transition to some pizza involved *SPOILER ALERT* a beautiful garbage
bag, some pizza sauce and the freaky Mr. Darren O’Donnell! I don’t want to give
too much away to our viewers because hey, they might come and know what’s
happening!
The other things we discussed were setup for the Pizza and
“background noise.” We’ll be showing a lot of videos for the beginning of Dare
Nite Lockdown, especially our promo videos! Like this one:

We also got into hosting, ice breakers, our Lockdown bit and
which movie we would be watching for the night.
For our hosting
we decided that the great duo, Nerupa and Sanjay, would be the best since they

We also had a chat on some ice breaker games. Since some
people will be spending the night with us, it’s best to get to know them right?
So prepare to share and get comfy/close!! As for the Lockdown part, we’ve got a
little surprise in store for everyone. But like I said before, I don’t want to
give too much away!
And for the movie, we will be watching…

So today we are well into our third day of editing the promo videos that we shot, so far they have all turned out very nicely which you can definitely tell after seeing Sanjay's video . The videos are all thematically connected, teens who go on with their daily lives are kidnapped by a creepy middle aged suited man, their struggle to escape from his clutches and whether or not they are successful forms the crux of the plot. So yesterday we spent hours filming our promo videos for our event, Dare Nite: Lockdown Edittion. The day before that, we spent our time in the office sketching out story boards for the scenes. I kinda spent more time then I needed to as I got caught up with making it look “perfect”, or at least to my standards.

Unfortunately our big-ass fancy schmancy video camera wasn’t working. So we had to us a Flip Cam instead, but I thought it looked fine anyway! Stay tuned for the promo vids that will be uploaded onto our blog!
